God Nurtures Growth
39 When they had completed everything according to the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth.40 The boy grew up and became strong, filled with wisdom, and God’s grace was on him.
Luke 2:39-40
THOUGHT
Joseph and Mary remained faithful to God's call. They traveled to Bethlehem, obeyed the law by visiting the temple, and then returned home as a family of three. In Nazareth, they lived apart from Jerusalem's hustle. Jesus grew and matured, and the Bible says he “grew up and became strong, filled with wisdom, and God’s grace was on him.”
This passage highlights the importance of ongoing spiritual growth. It should not be confined to specific moments or events but should be a consistent part of daily life. God uses various experiences, people, places, and our interactions with Him to nurture our spiritual development. As Jesus demonstrated quiet, consistent growth, believers must trust that the Lord will guide them through the process of spiritual growth.
REFLECTION
Spiritual maturity doesn't happen overnight. It grows as we remain faithful to the Lord, who uses quiet, unnoticed moments to deepen our faith roots, especially during storms. The Lord shapes us gradually and purposefully, fostering trust within us. As we develop, we are promised that our walk with the Lord becomes closer and closer.
PRAYER
Lord, nurture spiritual growth in my life. Help me to trust Your nurturing work within me. Strengthen me to stay faithful as You equip me to serve. Mold my life daily as the Potter shapes clay. Amen
