A Season for Everything

There is an occasion for everything,
and a time for every activity under heaven:

Ecclesiastes 3:1

THOUGHT

Timing is crucial. For Elizabeth and Zechariah, God's timing was key to them receiving a son. They longed for a child, but the right season hadn’t come until that moment. Though Elizabeth and Zechariah saw the wait as long gone, God had just scheduled the season. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that, like them, we need to recognize that everything happens in its appointed season, which is under the Lord’s control.

God used the different seasons in Elizabeth’s and Zechariah’s lives to shape them for His purpose and glory. He employed seasons of waiting to build endurance, times of blessing to foster deeper reliance, periods of silence to encourage reflection, and moments of change to teach surrender, obedience, and trust. The writer of Ecclesiastes reminds us that there is a season for everything, and Zechariah and Elizabeth exemplify this truth.

REFLECTION

What season are you going through in life? The present season offers a chance to strengthen your relationship with the Lord. Just as previous seasons have shaped you and future ones will, you are currently being shaped. Embrace this season and let waiting teach you patience, loss show you dependence, blessings foster gratitude, and change guide you toward surrender.

PRAYER

Lord, help me to embrace and learn through the season I am experiencing. Teach me what You desire for me to learn. Help me to rest and trust in Your timing purpose. I hold to the fact and truth that Your timing and purpose if perfect. Amen.
