The Work of the Spirit

But we ought to thank God always for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God has chosen you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and through belief in the truth.

2 Thessalonians 2:13 (CSB)

The process of sanctification involves both our intentional efforts and the work of God within us. The Holy Spirit guides us through this journey, helping us become more like Jesus. We must never overlook the significance of the Holy Spirit in our lives and recognize that His presence is a blessing for the child of God and essential for our growth as believers.

The Spirit Convicts Us To Grow. The Holy Spirit uses conviction as a tool for spiritual growth. Conviction brings to the forefront the reality of sin in our lives. For spiritual growth to occur, sin must be addressed appropriately. Conviction enables us to recognize our sin so that we can seek repentance and forgiveness from the Lord. It is a tool of the Spirit that helps us stay on the path God desires for our lives and guides us to walk according to His will and ways.

The Spirit Guides Us to Grow. Spiritual growth does not happen by chance. We must be intentional in our pursuit of spiritual growth. We must allow the Spirit to lead our development. He guides us to experience the work of God in our lives. He reveals to us the depths of the truth that have been hidden from us. He illuminates the truth so that we may strive to walk in it. The Spirit guides our growth because He is always with us. He guides us in times of pain and in moments of praise. He allows us to grow in all situations as He desires us to trust Him while He leads us through various moments.

The Spirit Empowers Us To Grow. The Spirit empowers us to grow when He illuminates the truth to us and allows us to experience His presence throughout life. When we feel the empowering of the Spirit, we grow as we follow His guidance. We learn from the truth we engage with. We learn from the steps of faithfulness in following His lead. We learn from the moments in life where we experience the workings of the Lord. The Spirit empowers us to live faithfully even in the most trying moments, and it is in those moments that spiritual growth occurs exponentially.
