What is Glorification?
We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:18 (CSB)
Glorification refers to the ultimate condition in which we experience the completed state of salvation, the glorious presence of the Lord, and the final blessings from Him. When we talk about glorification in salvation, we address what lies ahead. We are discussing future and eternal matters connected to our faith in Jesus Christ.
We Experience God’s Glory. The word for glory used in the Old Testament is a word of measurement. It refers to the weight or heaviness of an item. Concerning the Lord, it provides the concept of the weightiness of God’s glory. In glorification we experience God’s weighty glory. This glory is majesty that Moses was hid in the cleft of the rock and could only gaze on the backside of the Lord. In glorification we experience the presence of God’s glory.
We experience the fullness of transformation. Paul told the church in Corinth that believers are transformed into the same image from glory to glory. This transformation occurs at salvation but is completed at the moment of entering eternity. At that moment, the transformation reaches perfection. As followers of Christ, we enter eternity with the truth of being transformed into a perfected state and experience the fullness of transformation that occurs in a life with Christ.
We Experience The Eternal Blessings. The Bible speaks to the receiving of eternal blessings up the experiencing of glorification. The eternal blessings refer to the eternal dwelling in heaven. The perfected state gained. The invitation to the Lamb’s supper. The personal prepared dwelling. The presence of the Lord. The gathering of the saints of all time in the worship and service of the Lord. It is the promises of and the promises experienced in heaven.
We must understand that salvation begins when we receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. It continues through the process of sanctification as we grow in our relationship with the Lord. This is completely fulfilled in the moment of glorification.
