Commit Your Life to the Lord
5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act,
Psalm 37:5
THOUGHT
The Psalmist makes three clear statements in Psalm 37:5 that Mary will emulate as she follows the Lord. The Psalmist encourages followers to entrust their ways to God. Mary demonstrates her dedication to God's path by surrendering entirely to Him. She set aside her own desires and faced potential hardships in following the Lord, but her full commitment kept her focused. The Psalmist urges believers to trust in the Lord, understanding that trust involves resting in His character, work, and power. Though Mary did not know God’s entire plan, she trusted Him wholeheartedly, believing in His goodness and ability. She knew that with God, all things are possible, and she committed herself fully to trusting Him. The Psalmist also emphasizes that believers should expect God to act—living with the confidence that the Lord is not distant but present and active. Mary trusted that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her.
REFLECTION
Reflecting on Mary’s obedience and the Psalmist’s message, we should dedicate our actions to the Lord. By doing so, we trust Him with all uncertainties and surrender our plans to His divine will. We rely on His timing and resist the urge to rush our own. Believing that His plans surpass our own intentions, we should aim to align ourselves with the Lord’s ways.
PRAYER
Lord, I dedicate my life to your ways. I surrender my desires, wants, and paths, trusting You fully with everything I have. Teach me to trust You more each day. Help me to follow Your guidance. Amen.
