Embrace Humility

6 While they were there, the time came for her to give birth. 7 Then she gave birth to her firstborn son, and she wrapped him tightly in cloth and laid him in a manger,[d] because there was no guest room available for them.

Luke 2:6-7

THOUGHT

While Mary and Joseph were in Bethlehem, the time arrived for Mary to give birth to Jesus. There was no crowd to greet the Messiah, nor any royal celebration. Instead, Jesus was born in a stable and laid in a feeding trough, as there was no room at the inn. Mary and Joseph received Jesus calmly and lovingly. The world was unaware of this significant event, going on as usual.

These two verses highlight God's mighty work in the humblest places. God does not require the powerful or wealthy; He simply uses the humble and willing. He entrusted His plan to the faith of ordinary servants. Just as Jesus was born in humility, God's heart is revealed through humility. The Lord elevates and partners with the humble, and followers of Christ are called to embrace humility.

REFLECTION

We need to recognize that God takes pleasure in using the humble and obedient. Part of following Christ involves setting aside our own abilities, pride, and prestige to approach Him humbly. Living in greatness for the Lord and His kingdom arises from the humble obedience of His followers. We must strive to embrace humility and live as an open door for the Lord to use us for His purpose and glory.

PRAYER

Lord, guide me in developing a humble heart. Lead my steps toward humility that is surrendered and obedient to You. May this humility strengthen my trust in You and patience as I wait for You to work behind the scenes, in unexpected ways, according to Your timing and for Your purpose. Amen.
