God, The Promise Keeper
21 When the eight days were completed for his circumcision, he was named Jesus—the name given by the angel before he was conceived. 22 And when the days of their purification according to the law of Moses were finished, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23 (just as it is written in the law of the Lord, Every firstborn male will be dedicated[j] to the Lord[k]) 24 and to offer a sacrifice (according to what is stated in the law of the Lord, a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons[l]).
Luke 2:21-24
THOUGHT
After Jesus was born, Mary and Joseph followed the law of Moses by bringing Jesus to the temple for dedication and circumcision. Their obedience to the law reflects the faithfulness in their hearts. They understood that their duty did not end with Jesus' birth but was an ongoing responsibility.
These verses show that Joseph and Mary recognized they were welcoming the long-anticipated Savior. God used their faithfulness to demonstrate that He is always faithful to fulfill every promise. God never forgets or abandons a promise. He is the Promise-Keeper. Nothing He intends is ever stopped or delayed; instead, He brings it to completion at the perfect time and in the perfect way.
REFLECTION
We must recognize and steadfastly hold to the truth that God always fulfills His promises. His ability to do so stems from His character. We need to learn patience by remembering that His timing is flawless. Living with the awareness that God’s faithfulness is evident both in life's big moments and in small details helps us trust in His promise-keeping nature. This trust assures us that He never forgets or neglects His Word.
PRAYER
Lord, I am grateful that You are the Promise-Keeper. Help me to trust You wholeheartedly in every area of my life. Keep me steadfast in Your Word and Your Ways. May I find peace, rest, and hope in the confident assurance that You will faithfully fulfill Your promises. Amen.
