God’s Call to Trust Him
26 In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, 27 to a virgin engaged[c] to a man named Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And the angel came to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you.”
Luke 1:26-28
THOUGHT
Following God's announcement to Elizabeth and Zechariah, He sent Gabriel to deliver a message to Mary about Jesus' birth. In Luke 1:26-28, Gabriel appears and greets her, saying, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you.” Mary receives the message, unaware of what lies ahead, but is prepared to obey. The Lord's message highlights Mary's faithfulness and promises His presence through His call on her life.
These verses in Luke remind us that the Lord calls His children to fulfill His plan. He desires those who are faithful and willing to serve Him. He isn't looking for the strongest or most talented but seeks those who rely on Him and trust in His strength. As we try to follow God’s plan, we must remember we can trust Him because He is with us.
REFLECTION
We should aim to live a faith-filled life. Our goal isn't to earn God's favor—something impossible—but to walk in obedience and make ourselves available for His use. We strive to follow God’s plans for us while resting in His presence. Living with the awareness that He is with us gives us confidence. His presence teaches us that trust isn't based on complete clarity but on our confidence in God's character.
PRAYER
Lord, guide me to live in obedience and to be recognized as favored. Help me to hear Your call clearly and follow promptly, even when I do not fully understand. Remind me of Your presence and that You will strengthen me with each step I take in following You. Amen.
