Let Me Respond Quickly
15 When the angels had left them and returned to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go straight to Bethlehem and see what has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”
16 They hurried off and found both Mary and Joseph, and the baby who was lying in the manger.
Luke 2:15-16
THOUGHT
The shepherds' encounter with the Lord's message stirred their hearts to respond. They yearned to learn more about what the Lord had spoken and to fully experience the message. So moved by this, they refused to let worldly pressures or expectations hold them back and responded swiftly to the message, driven by their desire to experience more of the Lord.
This moment in Scripture shows how faith responds promptly to God's call. God communicates through His Word, the Holy Spirit, and life circumstances, inviting people to follow Him without delay. The shepherds recognized the significance of this opportunity as greater than anything worldly.
REFLECTION
We should emulate the shepherds by responding with faith and urgency. The Lord expects us not only to believe but to act quickly in obedience, showing our trust in His guidance. Prompt responses reflect our willingness to participate in His plan. We must avoid missing opportunities to serve due to delays, and instead, commit to listening to the Lord and responding swiftly.
PRAYER
Lord, assist me in not delaying when I hear Your call. Prompt me to respond swiftly and obediently. Strengthen me to resist temptations to hesitate in answering You. Lord, I trust You and believe that You are guiding and using every step I take. Amen
