Open the Door
See! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
Revelation 3:20 (CSB)
Jesus stands at the door of your heart and knocks. This reminds us that Jesus is ready to enter into the life of anyone who will open the door and invite Him in by faith. Salvation is not a transaction but a transformation. It is not inviting Jesus in as a guest, but inviting Him in to reside and remodel. We share Jesus because we know he knocks at the door of their hearts, wanting to come in.
We need to declare that Jesus is prepared to save. When sharing Jesus, we should emphasize that He is ready to save people immediately. Salvation occurs instantly. Jesus is prepared to save right now. While salvation is also a process as we grow in Christ and prepare for eternity, the promise and assurance of eternal life is instant. Think of the thief on the cross; Jesus told him he would enter heaven that day. The same Jesus who saved the man on the cross is the same today. Therefore, we proclaim that Jesus is waiting and ready to save today.
We need to invite others to open the door. As ambassadors of God’s kingdom and messengers of the Gospel, it is our duty to invite people to open the door. Daily, we encounter individuals who do not realize that Jesus is standing at the door, knocking. They may not understand that it's not just about knowing Jesus but about belonging to Him. We must take responsibility to share with them about the knocking they hear and how to open the door. We should tell them about the need to admit their sinfulness, believe in Jesus, and confess Him as Lord and Savior.
We must assure that Jesus will enter. Some people find it hard to believe that God loves them. Often, they say God could never love someone who has done what they have. It is crucial to tell people that Jesus will come into the heart of anyone who sincerely calls out to Him in faith. Christ's entry into our lives depends not on our worth or merit, but on His promises and love.
Jesus stands at the door and knocks. He desires entry. He wants to take up residence and remodel your life. Have you allowed Him to enter? If so, are you helping others allow Him to enter?
