See God at Work in Others
42 Then she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and your child will be blessed![f] 43 How could this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 For you see, when the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby leaped for joy inside me. 45 Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill what he has spoken to her!”
Luke 1:42-45
THOUGHT
Elizabeth acknowledged God's work in Mary's life. When Mary arrived at her home and the child inside Mary leaped, Elizabeth realized that the Lord was doing something extraordinary. She understood that Mary was the chosen instrument through which God was fulfilling His plan. Instead of focusing on herself, Elizabeth celebrated God's active presence in Mary’s life.
These verses highlight the significance of acknowledging the Lord’s work in others' lives. Elizabeth’s joy upon seeing Mary inspired her to celebrate God's work. The passage demonstrates how witnessing God's activity in others fosters unity, provides encouragement, honors His faithfulness, and reminds us of His greater plan.
REFLECTION
We should aspire to witness God active in the lives of others, just as Elizabeth observed the Lord's work in Mary. Recognizing God’s work in others strengthens our unity, as we are bonded through the Lord. Seeing God’s deeds in others encourages us and motivates faithful service. When God works in others' lives, we become more aware of His faithfulness. How can we foster the ability to recognize God's work in others and celebrate like Elizabeth?
PRAYER
Lord, enable me to recognize Your presence in the lives of others. Let this work inspire and motivate me to serve You more sincerely. Guide me in serving You and encouraging those who follow You. Help me notice and rejoice in the ways You operate in my life and in the lives of others. Amen.
